NUMAINS
Mont-Saint-Hilaire Fine Arts Museum
Chosen during the selection process for the 2022 program of major exhibitions at the Mont-Saint-Hilaire Museum of Fine Arts, Dominic Besner's NUMAINS project, sought to highlight the singularity of beings in their confused and improbable environment. This proposal was not only in keeping with the values of peace and inclusion promoted by the MBAMSH, but also with the institution's mandate.
Besner rejects labels of genre, place, orientation, time or social class. His compositions cast doubt in our minds as to their intentions. In these works, the combination of several images gives rise to new beings, both animal and human, organic and synthetic, technological and mythological. In this way, the artist presents a positive vision of our times, illustrating the opportunities to transcend the tensions of the present world.
